Golfing fore archie
One of our most loyal customers & friend, Kieran Patel & 3 of his golf partners have just completed 4 rounds of golf in one day challenge for a special cause, close to their hearts. Below is a write up about their day at Springwater Golf Club. Give it a read & show them some love!
“72 holes, on one of the hottest days of the year was never going to be easy, but for cystic fibrosis, a charity close to our hearts after a family member was diagnosed at just 3 weeks old, made the challenge 100% worth it.
Teeing off at 4:15 am, the golf was not pretty, and I really think we lived up to the hackers part of our team name, by 7 am, the heat was already hitting us just as we came in on the 18th at 7.30, we had a 15 minute break and off we went again for our second round, by this time it was warming up, but so was our golf, some unbelievable shots, long drives, unbelievable chips, putting range was found and short game was being our friend, this was going well!
By 11.30 we’d come in for lunch finishing 2 rounds before 12pm, unfortunately for us our third round which was by far the toughest happened to be during the warmest hours of the day, however, we put on our eagle sponsored shirts, and despite the golf being average at best, we looked the part! A special thanks to Robbie and the team at eagle for turning these around so quickly for us!
On the 10th the temperature was 27 degrees there was no wind, and swings were getting tired, holding onto our balls was the toughest thing! Fortunately the fantastic team at Springwater Golf Club, including Tom & Matt ensured we had water supplies throughout, so a big thanks to them!
As we came onto the 18th in the distance we saw young Archie, the boy we we were playing for, and all of a sudden, everybody’s mood rose, the last hole is challenging, a par 3 straight over 75% water and the clubhouse directly behind. All four of us placed our balls on the green, much too the appreciation of Archie and the families watching on! We managed to grab half an hour with Archie and family and after a tough and very warm 54 holes it’s exactly what we needed!
As we teed off for the final round, we warned the spectators not to expect much, but to be ready to shout fore for the next four shots they were about to witness & we didn’t let them down! But the reminder of why we were doing this made the final 18 a breeze.
With the final hole of the day watched on by several family members holding banners up and clapping us in, a tear hit everyone of us. Not just because what we’d achieved, but the amount we’ve raised and the differences we know this will make. Over £1400 and counting for the Cystic Fibrosis Charity Trust, an unbelievable achievement for Kieran, Roscoe Tom and Nick. 4 mates who dug in and kept each other going when it got tough, who kept each other topped up with balls throughout!
72 holes in one day is no easy challenge, 43,000 steps, 22 miles, searing heat, but every shot was worth it, all 380 shots each! The next morning was tough!
A special thanks to the team at Springwater Golf Club, without them non of this could have happened, their support throughout has been top notch. Also a big thanks to the CF Trust for supporting us and also Eagle Apparel Golf for providing the T-shirts!
